ABOUT ALEX
Alex Perlman is a versatile, award-winning broadcaster that has covered everything from the 2018 Winter Olympics to Division I gymnastics to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, and just about anything in-between. You name a sport...there's a good chance he's called it.
Alex currently works as a play-by-play broadcaster and on-air talent for ESPN and SiriusXM. He is also an accomplished voice-over actor. In fact, that was his first of many passions.
From the time he was nine years old until high school, Alex spent his afternoons in Manhattan for meetings and auditions. But after a successful career that spanned six years, he decided it was time to change his focus.
Alex's interest in play-by-play grew as the perfect combination of his acting background and his passion...sports. After a few years of talking into an iPod microphone (and most times way too fast), Alex knew he had found his calling. He visited Syracuse University on a beautiful autumn day (which was a bit of a mistake) and was fortunate enough to be accepted into the renowned S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Upon graduation, Alex began his career in Port Charlotte, Florida. He then spent six years at the Division I level at the University of South Florida and the University of Arkansas before returning home to New York City.
In his free time, you can find Alex on the golf course, cooking and baking or at a concert (jam band music is his favorite). He is also a fervent solver of the New York Times Crossword and has finally figured out how to consistently solve the Friday and Saturday puzzles.
Alex is also proud to call himself an Eagle Scout and believes the values and lessons he learned in completing his project and the rank's requirements were among the most important of his life.
